Chapter 29
Gia collapsed on her couch the second she entered the cottage. Despite her many vows and pledges of change the moment she stepped foot into the hospital all of her strength and courage disappeared. And having had a particularly bad run in with Dr. Oliver Gia was glad just to be home. Ignoring the flashing light on her answering machine Gia took a moment for herself before going to change and heading over Sonny’s. Pulling her hair up into a ponytail Gia heard knocking at her door and she hurried to see who possibly could have come to visit her.
Gia- [yelling as she neared the door] Who is it?
Kamar- Your future husband...
Gia- [smiling as she slowly opened the door] I don’t know... you don’t look anything like Boris Kodjoe to me...
Kamar- [scrunching his face up] Boris who?
Gia- [laughing] Forget it... what do you want?
Kamar- [smiling as he entered the cottage] Well hello to you too...
Gia- You know I was only playing... what’s up?
Kamar- [smiling as he gently touched her cheek] You...
Gia- Me?
Kamar- Yeah... we didn’t get to talk much at the hospital today and I was just wondering how you’ve been.
Gia- [half smiling] I’m fine...
Kamar- Are you sure... because you know I’m here if you need...
Gia- I know...
Kamar- I know you’re still a little pissed at me over what I told your father...
Gia- [shaking her head] He’s not my father...
Kamar- Well I know you’re still a little mad at me for what I said to Lucky and Gerald at Luke’s...
Gia- It’s over K... I told you how I felt about that.
Kamar- I know but...
Gia- There are no buts... just forget it... I have.
Kamar- [gently rubbing her arm] You are too good to me...
Gia- [laughing slightly moving away from Kamar] And don’t you forget it.
Kamar- How can I?
Gia- You can’t… besides I won’t let you.
Kamar- Good... where are you headed?
Gia- Sonny’s...
Kamar- That’s cool... what’s up over there?
Gia- Nothing much….just going to see my brother.
Kamar- Have you guys talked about Gerald yet?
Gia- Like I told you the last time... the last thing me and Sonny discuss is Gerald...
Kamar- [nodding] Oh ok... you want some company?
Gia- Company for what?
Kamar- Going over Sonny’s... I’m free so...
Gia- Thanks but no thanks...
Kamar- You sure because...
Gia- It’s cool... besides I wanna see my brother by myself.
Kamar- [slightly smiling] Ok...
Gia- [noticing Kamar’s strange smile] What is it?
Kamar- Nothing... it just...
Gia- What?
Kamar- You and Sonny being brother and sister...
Gia- What about it?
Kamar- Looking at the two of you... [shaking his head] without knowing you I would have never thought...
Gia- Why?
Kamar- You two are so different...
Gia- Not really...
Kamar- And add in your "other" brother... I mean...
Gia- [smiling] Well yeah it is a little strange but I when I step back and really look at it... it all fits.
Kamar- [cocking an eyebrow] How?
Gia- [smiling] It just does...
After a few minutes silence Kamar changed the course of the conversation.
Kamar- I saw you at the hospital... [smiling] rather I passed you in the hospital today and you didn’t look all that happy. What was up?
Gia- [sighing] Take a guess...
Kamar- You and Oliver at again huh?
Gia- Yes... I’m telling you... she has it out for me or something.
Kamar- [slowly walking back to Gia] And like I told you... you have to report her...
Gia- [shaking her head] No...
Kamar- [gently caressing her shoulders] If you don’t she’ll do it to someone else…
Gia- Well then I hope they report her...
Kamar- G...
Gia- Max the last thing I’m trying to do is add more drama to my already drama filled life.
Kamar- [softly as he traced her jawbone] Well... if you need to get rid of some of the drama and tension in your life I have a suggestion...
Gia- [softly] What?
Kamar- This...
Pulling her face to his Kamar hungrily kissed Gia. Forcing her mouth open with his tongue he quickly bathed in the taste of her. Pulling her closer still his hands slowly slid down her body ravishing on the curves of her. Feeling his hand slowly creep beneath her shirt Gia pulled away from Kamar not wanting their kiss to go further.
Gia- [softly as he continued to tightly hold on to her] No...
Kamar- [tugging on the bottom of her shirt] Come on...
Gia- No... I don’t want this...
Kamar- [softly as he guided her hand to the bulge in his pants] Yes you do and so do I...
Gia- [shaking her head] Kamar no...
Kamar- [leaning to kiss her again] Gia please...
Gia- [pushing away from him] I said no... I have... I have to go see Sonny...
Kamar- G...
Gia- You should leave...
Kamar- I’m sorry...
Gia- [shaking her head] No...
Kamar- G...
Gia- I have to go...
Nodding Kamar followed behind Gia as she quickly left going to Sonny’s. As he attempted to apologize to her once again Gia simply shook her head jumping into her car and speeding past him. Sliding into his car Kamar momentarily sat still cursing himself for what just happened. Gia being that close to him... her in his arms… he nearly blow everything and where would he be then. Angrily hitting the steering wheel for his actions Kamar calmed himself before heading back to her house. Knowing the guard had left following behind Gia at a safe distance Kamar quickly went to her door jimmying the lock slipping back into the cottage. Inhaling deeply Kamar looked around wondering the first place to look. Surely Gia had something of some importance tucked away in her house. Knowing that Sonny purchased the cottage for Gia Kamar was more than convinced that some way somehow Sonny had Gia hiding any evidence that would incriminate him. Rummaging through the desk by her computer yet finding nothing Kamar went in search of other hiding spots Gia might have. Having searched the entire cottage and still having found nothing Kamar quickly dialed their number ready to report his findings.
Kamar- Agent Maxwell reporting...
Voice- Did you find anything?
Kamar- No...
Voice- Then look harder...
Kamar- I’m doing the best that I can...
Voice- Then I suggest you try harder... our case rests on what you find.
Kamar- I don’t think Corinthos has his sister involved...
Voice- You’re not being paid to think...
Kamar- I know...
Voice- Maxwell... if this is too hard for you... you can easily be replaced...
Kamar- No...
Voice- This is the first big case the bureau has given you.
Kamar- I can do this...
Voice- You won’t be the first FBI agent to fail when it comes to Sonny Corinthos...
Kamar- I won’t fail... give me some more time and I’ll have everything you need to bring down Sonny Corinthos.
Voice- Fine... I will be expecting another update from you within the coming week...
Kamar- [nodding as he ended his call] Yes Agent Larkin...
Slipping out of the cottage Kamar headed back to his apartment preparing his next move.
Chapter 30
How dare Stefan attempt to question him about his feeling towards Laura. He had every right… every justification to feel the way he did. He mattered so little to Laura that never once while in Greece did she attempt to contact him. Never once did she come to him telling him of her love and her desire for him to be with her. She abandoned him never once looking back until she needed him. He could still remember asking his uncle about his mother and his scramble for an answer. Coming in to Port Charles to save Leslie Lu’s life Nikolas had false hope that Laura would welcome him into her heart and family and their lost time would be quickly forgotten. But he was wrong… Laura treated him as a stranger never reaching out to him… never showing him any love. It was as if Luke’s hatred for him had been replaced and now held by Laura. Sighing Nikolas pushed his car faster trying his best to block his thoughts.
Gia knew long ago that life never quite went as planned. Her clue was Marcus leaving her when she thought she needed him most. Though she knew it was best for him Gia still knew that with him gone she would be alone. True her mother and then believed to be father was still there Gia felt isolated trapped in a world of pleasing her mother. Gia knew Florence only wanted the best from her but many times her best Gia just did not feel like giving. And during those times Gia felt most alone. No one to shield her from the expectations she couldn’t possibly face. Coming to Port Charles Gia thought that momentarily she had escaped the pressure of living up and surpassing her mother’s goals for her but Florence quickly followed and added more when she got here. Sighing Gia pushed thoughts of Florence and her expectations from her head hoping that spending time with Sonny would be just what she needed.
Waiting in what seemed like yet another traffic jam Nikolas could not stop his thoughts from going to Gia. He could remember clearly the moment he laid eyes on her and how his heart quickly responded. Her eyes dancing with anger or flushed with passion crossing his mind at night keeping him from sleep. And if by chance he did slip into sleep her body pressed close to his… her arm caressing his back chased him through out his dream. She appeared frantic the last time he saw her and he wanted desperately to follow behind her healing her of her pains but he knew she would not allow that. Reaching the hotel Nikolas pushed thoughts of Gia away from him knowing that soon enough she would be with him again haunting and keeping him from his sleep.
It seemed like ages since Gia had last been to the Port Charles Hotel. Inhaling deeply Gia thought back to Nikolas and the feel of being in his arms. He was the first person in a long time that Gia found herself praying for a glimpse of… hoping for some type of acknowledgment from. Thinking back to that night Gia thoughts first return to Luke’s him watching her dance… each movement for him. Though she threw her drink on him the fact that she knew he was watching her and wanting her was a definite turn-on. And regardless to how bad the rest of the night was the moment he kissed her all was forgotten. The softness of his lips… the warmth of his body… sighing Gia pushed thoughts of Nikolas aside knowing thoughts of him would come to her later and in the quiet of her room she could relive their night over and over again.
Impatiently pushing the up button Nikolas was steamed by the time the elevator finally arrived. Entering the elevator Nikolas angrily pushed his floor anxious to escape to his penthouse.
Still shocked over Kamar’s behavior Gia silently wondered what was going on with him. First the jealousy over the flowers that she quickly covered with a kiss because she was not ready to examine what was really going on. Then to him telling people he was her boyfriend and finally the incident that just happened at the cottage. Entering the Port Charles Hotel Gia wondered if her friend was really what she thought him to be or was there more she was not seeing. Thoughts of Kamar were quickly forgotten when Gia saw the elevator doors closing. Though it would only be a second the last thing Gia wanted to do was wait for the next elevator to arrive. Running to the closing elevator Gia yelled out hoping whoever was inside would hear her and hold the elevator for her.
Gia- [yelling as she ran] Could you hold the elevator please… don’t let it… [the elevator door closing] close… Damn!
As Gia went to push the up button for the next elevator the previous elevator doors suddenly opened welcoming her in.
Gia- [smiling] Thank… [coming face to face with Nikolas] you…
Nikolas- [flatly] You’re welcome… what floor?
Gia- [seeing her floor already lit] I’m going… I’m going… [sighing] same as you…
Nikolas- Oh…
Gia- I’m going to see my brother…
Nikolas- You don’t have to explain to me…
Gia- I wasn’t… it’s just… [shaking her head] forget it…
As the doors closed again slowly moving to them towards their floor a maintenance supervisor arrived ready to service the elevator. Realizing he did not have the necessary tools to fix the elevator the maintenance supervisor left in search of it leaving behind a sign.
While gone however he was pulled away sent to fix another problem temporarily forgetting the elevator.
Slowly trudging along the elevator slowly made its way up to the top floor. Despite his constant thoughts of her Nikolas did not want to be this close to Gia without the opportunity to touch and to hold her. Sighing Nikolas impatiently pushed their floor button again in hopes of making their ride go faster.
Gia- [softly] Pushing the button is not going to make the elevator go faster.
Nikolas- I know…
Gia- They’ve been having problems with this elevator for a while now…
A grunt in response their conversation ceased once again. Waiting silently Gia could not help but steal a glance at Nikolas as they rode on. As hard as she tried her thoughts never strayed far from Nikolas and having him this close… this accessible… Gia felt the need to reach out to him yet again.
Gia- I want to explain my behavior the last time you saw me…
Nikolas- [shaking his head] That is not necessary…
Gia- I know but…
Nikolas- I would prefer if you did not attempt a conversation between us…
Gia- [softly] Ok…
Halfway to their destination the elevator began to jerk and abruptly stopped.
Nikolas- What the hell…
Gia- [softly] Something must be wrong…
Looking at her Nikolas gently shook his head trying to block out the things he wanted to ask and say to her. After several minutes Nikolas could take no more and quickly went to bang on the elevator doors.
Nikolas- [banging on the door] Come on damn it!
Gia- Screaming is not helping…
Nikolas- I am not screaming…
Gia- Why don’t you just use the service phone…
Nikolas- [rudely] I know what to do…
Gia- [softly] It was just a suggestion…
Nikolas- [softly after a few moments of silence] I know…
As Nikolas attempted to use the service/emergency phone Gia slowly looked at Nikolas drinking her fill of him. Gia understood his anger knowing that if the roles were reversed she too would not want to speak to him. As hard as it was even to admit to herself Gia wished she had stayed the night in his hotel room. To have someone loving and holding her through the night… Shaking her head Gia chased those thoughts from her head and instead concentrated on getting out of the elevator.
Nikolas- [softly] The service phone is out of order…
Repeating his behavior from before Gia simply grunted ending the conversation before it started. Looking at Nikolas once again Gia slowly made her way to the opposite side of the elevator intent on waiting out their stay in silence.
