Curious About Kira?

Well, now that you have read some of my thoughts and are exploring my homepage site, I think I want to tell you a little about me and some of my favorite things.

"KIRA" is not pronounced like Major Kira on Star Trek. It is K-eye-ra. My parents were at an opera and named me for a singer. They (my parents) mis-pronounced HER name. So, I sing off-key and my name is different from the singer's name.

I live in Columbia Maryland and I love it. I've been here since 1976. I was born in Baltimore Maryland and most of my family lives in the area. I'm lucky...I like my family. I know not everyone is so fortunate. I am married to Tom and have 2 wonderful cats. The cats are Percy, an attractive orange tabby boy and Sheena, who is solid black with green eyes.

Tom is a retired accountant. He has been drawing and painting since he retired. His media are oil pastels, pen and ink, and Chinese Brush painting to name a few.

Besides my family stuff, I love water aerobics and have been doing that for a couple of years. I also like to learn new things and take classes through Johns Hopkins Life-Long Learning program and well as other things.

And I am a music person. I love all kinds of music and have played various instruments. My current favorite types of music are Broadway tunes, Blues, and Jazz, as well as pop music from the 1960s and 1970s . I still love folk music and songs with good lyrics.

I love ethnic music, also. Irish music is a particular favorite. And Tom and I have been to Ireland twice. We were drawn into Irish culture because of the music and then found other things that we loved that were Irish. I think I enjoy ethnic music because I like getting the flavor of different cultures and music is very flavorful.

I am retired from the Social Security Administration where I used to train and help people use pcs.

I like people (and the 4-legged furry people, too). I like to communicate. So, have I told you more about me than you really wanted to know?

Thanks for visiting my homepage and feel free to explore more of my site.
