What is this page? I stumbled across the idea for this site while I was thinking about how much I missed the Writers’ Workshop I was involved in during the school year and how much it had inspired me to write more. Writers’ was an extra-curricular class that took place during school for those students who loved to write, wanted to improve their writing, and could keep their grades up even if they missed a few classes. During the periods it was scheduled for, we were able to discuss and critique each other’s writings and learn about different techniques used in both poetry and prose. I feel that it improved my writing as well as my ability to evaluate my own writing and the works of others. Since I am now in the high school and I don’t think I will have an opportunity like Writers’ Workshop during school, I thought that I would integrate two things that I love: writing and the internet. I hope this site is a success and that everyone who comes here will enjoy reading the things that will be posted. My idea is this: that people can send me any writing they wish to be critiqued, I can post it, and they will be able to get feedback on it from anyone who visits this site. There are two options for sending critiques. One is to send an open critique, or one that can be viewed by anyone who visits this web site. The second is a private critique which is sent directly to the author, and therefore seen only by the author. If you do not know exactly what a critique is, click here. |
