Ok, so...I'm watching this nature show on TV..and..they're talking about these birds that live on this island off the coast of India. They lay their eggs in this hole in the ground and they cover it up with sand and stuff and it's all very scientific how they keep the eggs at just the right temperature so they incubate and everything. Then, umm..the birds have to go away for some reason..to get food or something...and this monitor lizard comes in and eats up all of the eggs. As if that weren't bad enough, the lizard then proceeds to lay her own eggs in the cozy place and then she leaves before the birds come back. So... the birds come back, and they have no idea of what's been going on. They don't know that the eggs in the warm cozy hole that they spent so much time slaving over aren't even theirs anymore. So they just go right back to work, tending the cozy egg hole, making sure that the eggs are nice and warm. So I'm watching this and thinking, "Wow, most of the time I really am a lot like those birds".
