Fairfax Eligibility Policy
     Lessons learned from your sports experience include (1) being well-prepared, (2) maintaining a positive attitude, (3) dedication to a cause, and (4) establishing high standards of conduct and attitude. Athletics training and experience prepares student athletes for the challenges of adult life.
     A great tradition for excellence in athletics is not built overnight. It takes the hard work of many people over a period of time. To participate in such a way that honor and respect come to our athletes, our schools, and our communities is a tradition at FCPS. As a member of an interscholastic team, a student has responsibilities.
     Contributing to your schools athletic tradition is a wonderful source of satisfaction for student athletes and the community.

Basic Eligibility ( check school for details )

must be a bona fide student in good standing;

must have passed five subjects for credit the preceding semester and must be currently taking no fewer;

than five classes for credit;

must not have reached the 19th birthday on or before August 1 of the current school year;

must have a completed Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical form dated after May 1;

must be an amateur as defined by the VHSL Handbook; and,

must have successfully passed all parts of the Virginia Literacy Passport Test.
