Acknowledged as the first Sydney SETTLER, John Meloney arrived in 1784.He was a Unitel Empire Loyalist and settled on land later to be known as the JAMES MUGGAH farm.Other names to settle here were; PETERS.LORWAY,TOWNSEND,BURCHELL, MOFFATT , MUSGRAVE and JOST.In 1784 CAPE BRETON BECAME A PROVINCE until 1820, with SYDNEY as its Capital.
