Solomon Stansbury, son of Samuel A. Stansbury Jr. and his first wife, was born September 26, 1755 in Baltimore County, MD and died April 1, 1842 in Laurel County, KY. He married Jane Lewing, daughter of George Lewing, on February 22, 1791 in Mecklinburg, Lincoln County, North Carolina.

Infant: The first child of Solomon and Jane ( Lewing) Stansbury was born in 1792 in North Carolina and died the same year.

Rebecca Stansbury was born in 1794 in North Carolina and died in 1878 in Kentucky. She married William Nix November 5, 1817 in Madison County, KY.

Samuel Stansbury III was born January 25, 1796 in North Carolina and died after December 21, 1845, probably about 1855 in White Lilly, Laurel County, KY. He married Sarah Nix March 10, 1817 in Rutherford County, NC.

Susannah Stansbury was born January 22, 1804 in North Carolina, date and place of death unknown. She married first James Holeman August 18, 1835 (or August 1838 according to Stansbury Society Newsletter) in Laurel County, KY. She married second Steve Fugate January 11, 1841 in Laurel County, KY.

Sarah (Sally) Stansbury was born about March 9, 1805 in Burke County, NC and died in 1865 in Laurel County, KY. She married Luke Watkins, Jr. December 14, 1818 in Knox County, TN. One source, citing a torn Bible page lists name as Galloway, born March 9___

Malinda Stansbury was born about 1806 in Wilkes County, NC and died June 25, 1876 in Washburn, McDonald County, MO. She married Josephus Meese 29 Feb? 1859. (Since there was no 29 Feb in 1859 there must be an error in the day or the month.)

William Stansbury was born February 5, 1807 in Laurel County, KY and died March 16, 1870 in McDonald County, MO. Another source states that he died after 1868 in Madison County, KY. He married Malinda Stansberry daughter of David and Rachel (Holeman) Stansberry of the New Jersey Stansburys, in 1828. Both are buried in Roller Cemetery.


Military Service

"While residing near Baltimore, Maryland, he enlisted in 1777 and served three months as private in Captain Luke Wiley's Company in Colonel Tally's Maryland Regiment. While a resident of Caswell county, North Carolina, he enlisted in the fall of 1779 and served five months in Captain Harding Company in Colonel Robert Mebane's North Carolina Regiment and was at the siege of Charleston. He enlisted in 1780 and served three months in Captain John Graves' Company in Colonels Collier's and O'Neal's North Carolina Regiments and was in the battle of Gates' Defeat. He was allowed pension on his application executed October 1, 1832, at which time he was a resident of Laurel County Kentucky. He married February 23, 1891 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Jane or Janett Lewing. She was all owed pension on her application executed December 13, 1842, at which time she was sixty-eight years of age and was living in Laurel county, Kentucky. Their son, Samuel, who was born January 25, 1796, as a resident of Laurel County, Kentucky. He stated that he was their third child, that his sister, Rebecca Nix, was about two years older than himself and that the first child died very young.
