The Bee Gees started their recording career in Australia in the early 60's and have never looked back. They are the only pop band to have had number one hits in three consecutive decades.
The decades have not been without their set backs for the Bee Gees however, most notably after the phenomenal success of their Saturday Night Fever soundtrack music. "That was a brilliant period for us personally, and at one point we had four records in the American Top 5," Barry Gibb recalls. "However it proved to be an impossible act to follow, and it took us another ten years to regain our musical credibility."
Surviving and growing onward the Bee Gees are the only recording artists to have written and produced six consecutive U.S. number one hits in the U.S., the first composures to have five songs in the American Top 10 at the same time and Barry Gibb was the first composure since Lennon and McCartney in 1964 to write four consecutive number one hits. Their total record sales are well over 100 million worldwide.
