Here Are Our Referral Pictures

On Thursday 23 December 1999, I received a call telling me that we had been referred a daughter from China. She was finally real. And I just couldn't wait for the pictures.

That night, with friends visiting, we received the first photo via email.

A Polaroid of that along with two other 35mm prints arrived the next day: Christmas Eve. What a perfect Christmas gift.

Meet Zheng Xing, our daughter!

If only she knew what a stir she's created half a world away....
