U.S. Copyright Information and more...
If you haven't been registering your songs with the U.S. Copyright office at the Library of Congress then you really should be. Many people use the "poor mans" copyright of mailing it to yourself and use the un-opened letter and postmark as a form of protection. This form of protection is no longer legally sound. The only way by law in the United States is to register your songs with the US Copyright Offices in Washington D.C. This does cost money but not as much as you might expect. The articles linked to this page explain in detail about protecting your music with copyrights and how to do it.
If you read all of the articles, check the U.S. Copyright web site and still have questions you can email Tam McClure at Artist Management Services with your questions. She would be glad to answer them.
