Rei Ayunami A rare expression from the quiet Rei.

There isn't much to say about Rei's background, because it's a complete mystery in the series. According to the Marduk report (is that what it's called?) she is the "First Child" and pilot of Eva-00. She is severley introverted, interacts very little with others, and hardly ever speaks. Rei has an odd relationship with Gendo Ikari, whom she seems to see as some sort of love intrest. Over the course of the series, a kinship between She and Shinji develops. It isn't love, but it's more than friendship.
