The main character is named Dawson Leery. He is an intelligent, caring, aspiring filmmaker, and the show focusses on him and his friends living in the small Massachussetts town of Capeside. Joey (Josephine) Potter is his friend from early childhood, who fell rapidly in love with him as the years went on. Dawson eventually realised the feeling was mutual, and they dated, and broke up, and dated, and broke up, and now they are back to being just Dawson and Joey. When the show began however, Dawson's eye had been caught by another girl, Jen Lindley. She was the new girl in town, having moved to Capeside after her parents caught her in their bed with Drue, a character who later appears in the show for similar reasons. She lives with her grandmother, Evelyn "Grams" Ryan, who is quite conservative, and very religious, yet later becomes rather down to earth. The fourth member of the original group is Pacey Witter, who always seems to be the life of the party, even if it means getting himself into some hot water. From sleeping with his English teacher to flunking out of school or entering himself in a beauty pageant, Pacey keeps his friends on their toes, but they're always there to support him. Since the second season, a few more characters appeared on the show. Jack and Andie McPhee, twins, are the remains of the McPhee Dynasty. The family was once very well-off and rather problem-free. Their older brother Tim died tragically, however, which caused their father to become alienated from the family, and their mother to become alienated from society. Andie deals constantly with psychological problems. Her relationship with Pacey was mutually beneficial: she pulled him out of his failure streak, and he gave her the confidence she needed to end her prescription drug dependance. Jack, shortly after moving to town, got a job at the Icehouse, Joey's family's restaurant. Though she and Dawson were still dating at the time, Jack and Joey quickly hit it off and began a relationship (and ended Dawson's). The relationship would have lasted longer, if it weren't for the fact that Jack came out of the closet months later. Since then, the characters all graduated and have moved to Boston. Jack, Dawson, and Jen all lived with Grams in Boston and attended school there. Joey also attended school in Boston and lives in residence. Pacey worked as a chef and later as a stock guru. Joey's college roommate and best girlfriend Audrey also attended Worthington with Joey and along with some rocky relationships with Pacey, got herself checked into a rehab centre in California. Andie received an extension on her ivy-league school acceptance, so she can continue travelling in Italy. By the wrap-up of the series, the characters' lives changed dramatically. Dawson, after the success of his re-do of his mentor Todd's movie, wrote his own movie and produced it with the help of all his friends. It was a success, and led to a job producing and directing his own teen drama show, based on his own life. The show, entitled "The Creek," imitates the show "Dawson's Creek" and is based on the lives of Dawson and all his friends. Joey, after finally making it to Paris, has become a successful editor in New York. After dumping her writer boyfriend and potential fiancé she finally chooses Pacey to spend her days with. Pacey successfully purchased and re-opened The Icehouse, the Creek'ers favourite haunt, originally owned by Joey's family (who now own Potter's B&B). Audrey became a back-up singer for John Mayer and at last check was touring Europe with him. Andie was currently working towards becoming a medical doctor -- only seen in the extended cut of the series finale.. Jack became an English teacher at Capeside High, and is happily dating Doug, Pacey's recently-outed brother (foreshadowed from season one!). After moving to New York to helps Grams recover from cancer (which she successfully did), Jen finished college and became the director of an art gallery in SoHo. She became impregnated by her boyfriend (who promptly left her), a pregnancy which led to the irritation of a previously dormant heart problem. At Gail's wedding to a new husband (Dawson's father Mitch died in season 5), Jen passed out and her condition worsened. She soon died, leaving her daughter with Jack and Doug. (Volume 1) The Dawson's Creek official album, "Songs From Dawson's Creek" was released on Tuesday April 27th, and was marked on the following episode "A Perfect Wedding" by an extended opening credit sequence. It is an Enhanced CD (Which means it does stuff when you stick it in your computer), and it includes three screensavers (which all have the background sound of Shooter's "Life's a Bitch"), and Windows wallpaper (Which is of the cover).
