Ffolkes, I am not the "be all and end all" to the Pagan World.
These are just a few of the little things I do in life.
Now you'll know why I practice solitarily.

BOOKS: Diane Stein, Scott Cunningham, Starhawk, whatever you can get your hands on.
Learn meditation; learn about the Chakrahs (did I spell that right?);
learn honesty...about yourself and people, mostly how to be honest about yourself;
learn concentration;
the Tarot...I've just recently discovered Brian Froud's and Jesa MacBeth's Faerie cards...wow!

Learn how to GROUND before you do anything else!!!
I cannot believe all the youngsters out there who want to
"work magic", "do magic", and just stomp right into it!!!
Just out of curiosity, where is all that Power you're using go when you're finished with it?
You, the conduit, can have some serious backlashing without GROUNDING!

That said...GROUND again.
(Do I sound like your Mother?)

These next "Laws" are lifted directly from Scott Cunningham's "Living Wicca".
I subscribe to them wholeheartedly.

* We are of the Old Ways, among those who walk with the Goddess and God and receive Their love.

* Harm none. This, the oldest law, is not open to interpretation or change.

*The Power shall not be used to bring harm, to injure or control others. But if the need arises, the Power shall be used to protect your life or the lives of others.

* Ensure that your actions are honorable, for all that you do shall return to you three-fold, good or bane.

* Honor all living things, for we are of the bird, the fish,the bee. Destroy not life save it be to preserve your own.

*Those of our way are kind to all creatures, for hurtful thoughts are quite draining and aren't worth the loss of energy. Misery is self-created; so, too, is joy, so create joy and disdain misery and unhappiness. And this is within your power. So harm not.

*Ever remember that the Power is the sacred gift of the Goddess and God, and should never be misused or abused.

SO MOTE IT BE!!

PROTECTIVE CIRCLE
This is a piece of protection for me.
More than anything else, it's grounding (grin)
but considering I feel safest here, yo, it's my den.
Usually used while lying in bed at night.
There's honestly a whole rigamarole that goes with this,
but see any good book on meditation.

I "see" a tree, a maple tree to be exact (pick your own tree, with love)
growing through my body and into the earth; roots growing into each of the chakrahs.
From there, there's a kind of "schizophrenic" break where the tree is holding me in the center of ITS roots...womblike.
A triangle of the Goddess forms...to the North, Mother-aspect, facing outward, holding a large flaming sword;
bottom left, Maiden-aspect, facing ourward, holding bow & arrows, at ready;
bottom right, Crone-aspect, with a three-legged stool behind her, in shawl with some of the meanest knives you've ever seen in hand. (She sharpens them during her naps and breaks.)
Over, around and through all this, is a shimmering, shiny, silvery, irridescent "globe" ... my covering. Something like a "force field".
Beyond that is "Love", just an enormous amount of love for me and for all.
When feeling under siege, there's a campfire in the center we gather round.
The "Wild Man" circling inside and out with wolves, badgers, and other beasties, up to and including a unicorn.
I also envision receiving love through the Earth, being nurtured
while envisioning giving back,"nurturing" the Earth via my body after my death.
The words aren't all that important, although I DO have a chant.
It doesn't have to be rational, again, it's MY world and this is what makes ME feel safe.

I honestly don't consider myself much of a Wiccan.
You couldn't get me into a coven on a wild bet.

I DO practice little "weirdnesses", tho. I plant protective plants all around the house.
I have windchimes inside and out. (My mother says I've loved bells since I was tiny.)
"Hi, Mom!!" waves
Of course, if you saw pictures of my "Castle", you know there's fairies, elves, unicorns, dragons, swords, wizards, and other little thingies floating around the house.
Candles, I LOVE candles and various candle holders.
Plants on the kitchen window sill and in the back room.
There's so much I want to learn...I DO have the makings of an altar,
but they're scattered around the house looking innocent.
I live in a small town and come from that hard-core Christian family.
I'm not STUPID.
And, of course, my beloved rocks. Crystals, whatever. The kids have been giving me "magic" rocks for forever.
I have quite a collection. Something like dandelions, for the mothers out there.

So that's really all I am and really all I do.
Everyone who knows me knows I'm Pagan. I don't hide. Oh, and don't let me forget the holidays. I get such a KICK out of holidays.
I just love it that Christmas pops up around the same time as the Sun King's rebirth.
Did you know all those Christmas songs can have a double meaning??? I LOVE IT!

The quiet life of a quiet Pagan. No big deal.

For really GREAT stuff, please go back to my "Links" page...
might I suggest Joelle's site?? She's a beautiful Lady, too.
