Come Celebrate Unionism
With Balloons, Banners,
Brotherhood and Sisterhood!
Don Silsley
President, Chapter 104

Imagine if you will, a gathering of 50,000 or more party-minded Union Brothers and Sisters, parading through a major city, celebrating Unity, Solidarity, Family and Friendship on Labor Day. Well, you really don't have to imagine it, you can be part of it.  Chapter 104 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is inviting you to come and join in this celebration - the largest Labor Day Parade in terms of union member participation anywhere in the United States.  We will march through a gleaming city where unionism is celebrated. Bands will be playing, kids will be laughing, and the theme of solidarity will permeate the entire population.  The birthplace of the AFL-CIO, Pittsburgh truly loves it's unions.  After passing the TV cameras and the reviewing stands with thousands of cheering spectators, one gets a feeling of pride and ownership of this grand celebration.

After the parade, we gather at a local community park and have a picnic.  Last year PASS President Mike Fanfalone was the umpire for a pickup softball game and Region III Vice President Ron Rahrig gave us all a demonstration on horseshoe pitching.  We'll have food and refreshments, along with dessert.  The PASS Executive Board will not only participate in the parade, but will also stay for a week to hold a board meeting.

"How to get there" maps and information on places to stay can be obtained from Bill Morrow, Clarissa Holland or Don Silsley.  Try to let us know if you are planning to attend as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.  The date for this party is September 7, 1998.  We start early and go late into the day.  Bring your family if you can, it just makes it that much more fun. And don't forget your old softball equipment -- the game is exciting and fun.  (And rumor has it that our old 'blind umpire' will be back again this year!)

Bill Morrow and Clarissa Holland can be reached at (412) 269-9959, ext. 270, and Don Silsley can be reached at (412) 269-9245.

See you there!!
