PJ Super Quiz #1

The ATS Super Quiz was last updated on 05 May 1998.

Here are just a couple of Pearl Jam questions to pass the time away. I'll probably keep adding a couple every now and then, just for the hell of it.

Now, to add a little bit of difficulty to this little trivia section, I'm leaving out the links to the discography entires and stuff, so you're on your own here... unless you, like, go to the discography entries and stuff on your own... uh... hmm...

Well, anyway, we'll start off with some easy ones. Most of you out there should get these fairly easily...

  1. Three songs appeared on the band's first promo single in 1991. What were they?

  2. Eddie's real name is...

    1. Edward Louis Vedder
    2. Edward Louis Severson III
    3. Eddie Jerome Vedder
    4. Leapin' Lanny

  3. Pearl Jam won a Grammy in 1996 for 'Spin The Black Circle'. What was the category?

  4. Who's voice can be heard during the answering machine stint in 'Black, Red, Yellow'?

  5. No Code entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at what position?

  6. Japanese copies of Ten contain an extra track that is not available on any other version of the album. What does this track contain? Give yourself bonus points if you know what the track is listed as.

  7. On what album does ex-Chili Pepper drummer Jack Irons first appear? (Simple, no?)

  8. Spell the last name of Pearl Jam's second session drummer, ie. the guy on Vs., correctly. (This one's like poison to most people... I just like adding it 'cause I'm good at speeling...)

  9. In what town was Jeff Ament born?

Now for some rather obscure, totally useless questions...

  1. How many Polaroids are on the cover of No Code CDs and vinyls?

  2. A few years ago, PJ aired a radio broadcast free to any stations that wanted to play it. It was called Self-Pollution radio, and it was cool. According to the glossary in Vitalogy, 'self-pollution' is the definition of...

  3. While we're talking about albums and Vitalogy, page 25 of the insert booklet features a small note written in someone's hand writing. Hmm... who wrote that note?

  4. During the re-release of Vs. a few years ago, the black CD backing in the jewel cases were replaced with clear plastic. Underneath this plastic was the picture of a hand with something written on it. What, pray tell, does it say?

  5. In non-North American and non-Japanese versions of Ten, three extra tracks were added on for good measure. What were the new songs?

  6. Hey, here's another Ten question. In the credits found on the insert, Tim Palmer is cited as having played what two instruments?

  7. What is Mike McCready's middle name?

  8. After 'W.M.A.' is played on the third 'Dissident' single, Eddie mentions that it's "an important day to remember." Why is this, exactly? If it helps, the three-CD 'Dissident' series features a concert played on 4 Apr 1994 in Atlanta.

  9. The 'Immortality' single contains the only track found on a Pearl Jam release that is not performed by the band themselves. Who is the song, and who is it performed by?

  10. After having watched the film 'Dead Man Walking' (starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn), Eddie went nuts and wrote a new song for the flick, entitled (aptly enough) 'Dead Man Walking'. He immediately called up director Tim Robbins and told him the score. Unfortunately, someone had just beaten him to the punch and the song never appeared in the movie. It was later renamed 'Dead Man'. Who beat out the Edmeister for the tune?

  11. Here's the last one for now. When Eddie said, "I am a donut," what the hell was he referring to?

Well, that's it for now. If you think you need to see the answers, here they sit...
