Chronotrigger was made by the people who did Final Fantasy III and looks like it was programmed by the people that did Secret of Mana. Chronotrigger is a RPG that has blown every other game I have ever played out of the water. I was sorry when the game finally ended that there wasn't more.
In the fair, there are many things to do. You can try to guess the winner of a race for silver points (things that can be used at the fair like tickets), go to the tent of horror, try to best Gato, the training robot or dance to a Jurrasic rhythm. I like the fact that you can cash in your silver points and try to beat the monsters of the tent of horror and win a cat. When you take your cat back to your house, it immediately takes to your other cat. They may even have kittens.
When you go to Lucca's teleporter machine, you are magically teleported from one of the pods to the other. When Marle steps into the machine, it glows blue and she is teleported into a blue sphere and disappears; only the pendant remains. You grab the pendant, slip it on and tell Lucca to start the machine. After you slip into the blue sphere, you are shown a magnificent graphic display of time travel. When the graphics display fades, you find yourself in a canyon surrounded by killer goblins trying to kill you for no good reason.
When you stumble into a town, you are told that you are in the year 600 and Queen Leene was just recently found wandering around in the mountains. You make your way to Gaurdia castle and find Marle in a gown with people calling her Queen Leene. While Marle talks to you about the mix-up, she starts to glow and breaks apart into glowing flying pieces. Lucca shows up and shows you how to use a portal and explains that if Queen Leene is captured and killed, Marle (who is really Princess Nadia and Queen Leene's ancestor) will never be born.
Throughout the game, about 12 portals open and you meet several other people that join you. Chronotrigger is a long and interesting game (don't worry about having to start all over again, its battery backed). I think you'll find it very interesting and complicated, but complicated in a good way. I won't reveal too much, but at one point in the game, one of the main characters is killed, but is he gone forever? You'll have to buy it to find out.
