Remus Takes On The World

Hello. I am Remus, a grey and white tabby cat with short fur. My littermate Romulus and I share our apartment with Momma and Daddy. I love to cuddle with Momma in the mornings before she gets out of bed. I hope that she will stop this poopy habit of going to work every morning. She should stay in bed so I can cuddle and purr.

I love to chase Momma around the house. Every morning, she gets up and fills my water bowl. Then, I show her the food before I eat breakfast. Momma might forget that she keeps the food in the kitchen if I did not show her the way. After that, I check all her clothes before she puts them on. Momma was born with no fur, like all the humans, so I have to share mine with her.

Sometimes Momma lets Romulus and I out onto the back porch. We can't get down to the ground in order to explore, although we would like to. We get to watch the birds and there is NIP outside. Sometimes Momma shuts the door to the porch. Then we are sad, because it is very boring to be home without Momma when the door is closed. Sometimes there are other cats on the porch. When this happens, I defend our territory from the interlopers by hissing at them and showing off my Paws of Death.

Sometimes I lurk under the step below that door where the other cats come out and SWAT them when they try to take over our porch. This is great fun, but I can only do it when there are Strange Cats.

Remus has had visitors.

I am hoping that Momma will give me some peanut butter tonight. Today she brought home a big box filled with a big thing and HUNDREDS of pink and white toys. They make wonderful little squeaky noises, and Momma does not want us to play with them. This means they are the best toys around.

Romulus and I take turns being the predator and the prey to practice our skills as Mighty Hunters. I pretend that I do not see Romulus lurking behind the furniture and that I am a foolish mousie wandering through the house. That's when it's time for him to POUNCE. Then it is my turn to be the mighty hunter and Rom's turn to be the foolish mousie.

Momma says she is bringing home a new brother for us. She says he has grey and white fur like me. I will defend my territory from this interloper.

Momma has been very busy with her toys lately. We like it when Momma uses her toys a lot because it means she does not go out very much. Momma's big white toy has a light on it and it makes humming and rattling noises. Momma has a great yellow toy that jumps and dances for me to chase. Sometimes I get it from Momma, and then she chases me. This is even more fun.

Momma's desk is a great perch. You can climb over the ledge onto the kitchen counter from there. Don't tell Momma. She thinks we don't go on the kitchen counter because we're not allowed.

Momma will not let us go OUT. We want to go OUT. She knows we want to go out, because when we go to the door, she says the "outside" word, that means OUT. Then she says the NO word. We do not understand why Momma will not let us sit on the porch and eat NIP and watch birdies. She says the "cold" word a lot, and then she holds us up to the window.

Momma eats at the kitchen table. I like to perch on the back of her chair while she is eating. This way, I get first chance at the treats. This does not work with Daddy. Daddy does not share and give us treats. Sometimes Daddy lets us lick his dish when he is done, but mostly he just says the NO word and gives us mean looks. If Momma and Daddy are eating together and Daddy says the NO word, Momma will sometimes give us a little piece of food from her dish. Sometimes she pets us which is nice but not as tasty.
