TO THICH NHAT HANH
You write that peace is every step
And I have found it so.
And sometimes these are tiny steps,
I can't see where they go.
And sometimes these are giant steps
And sometimes these are thoughtful steps
And sometimes these are dancing steps
These steps both fast and slow.

SPIDER
Unknowing, I built you a funeral pyre
Of paper and crossed twigs.
You ran along a molten bridge
And finally reared up, in wreaths of smoke.
But something also rose in me.
I thrust a branch - you clung on tight,
And holding on together,
We walked out into the night.

OLD PEACE OFFERINGS
You showed me harmony,
That soothing attention to small detail
(Even though you forgot my name).
You showed me constructive action,
The possibilities of service
(While living in darkness).
You showed me simplicity,
Recycling fabrics, ornaments and dreams
(Despite your shaking).
And you showed me love,
Laughing as we shared unwritten stories
(On the bed you never left).
