ROT-ARACT comes from the term Rotary-In-Action. A Rotaract Club is more than a community service club. It is part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This efforts starts at the community level, but it knows no limits in its outreach. The Rotaract club you organised will be a Community Service activity of its sponsoring Rotary Club, which is a member of Rotary International (the worldwide association of more than 26,000 Rotary Clubs.) Your Rotaract club will be part of an international network of over 6,000 Rotaract clubs, and will serve an important role in this network.


The Birth of The Rotaract Club of United College (Sarawak)


Rotaract Club of United College (Sarawak) or "RACUCS" is officially formed on 30 April 1998 with 31 Charter members. With all the help, care and sponsorship from The Rotary Club of Sibu, we finally manage to be the first University Based Rotaract Club in Sibu.


What is RO-TARACT CLUB?

The term, ROTARACT is derived from the term, "ROTary in ACTion" alluding to Rotary's commitment to promoting world understanding and peace through the development of leadership amongst the youth. On March 13, 1968 Rotary chartered the first Rotaract Club of North Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Rotaract is a worldwide organisation of young men and women ages 18 through 30 who believe they can make a difference. Through community and international service projects, Rotaractors help improve the lives of the people around them. In so doing they develop leadership and professional skills and establish a network of friends. Rotaract is Friendship in Action. Rotaract is Fun. A Rotaract club is more than a community service club. It is part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level, but it knows no limits in its outreach. The Rotaract club is Community Service activity of its sponsoring Rotary Club, which is a member of Rotary International.

Goals of ROTARACT

  • To develop professional and leadership skills;
  • To emphasize respect for the rights of others, based on recognition of the worth of each individual;
  • To recognise the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve'
  • To recognise, practise and promote ethical standards as leadership qualities and vocational responsibilities;
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of the needs, problems and opportunities in the community and worldwide;
  • To provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill toward all people.
