Jack and 11-lb. Bat Ray

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Friday, January 23, 1998 was nearly perfect ... 20 "monster" heaves off the end, 24 fish. Neddless to say, the squid was a-flyin'!
Jack and Steve's night on their hometown wharf (the undisputed stinky-est!) began at 9:00 pm and, before their midnight departure, included the capture of 26 Kingfish, 4 Bullhead, 1 Sanddab, and an 11-lb. Bat Ray.
The only real battle featured Jack against a small Bat Ray, a five-minute affair that featured Steve with the perfect "creature scoop" and kick-back. Steve's Pole "Big Red", a 14-foot surf monster, was testing out the new 8oz. stopper and mid-tie treble, both of which worked to perfection.
Jack and Steve will be cuttin' bait at Greyhound Rock on Sunday, January 25 before the Super Bowl. Join us and "good creature hunting."
