JONI'S E_Z HTML FOR
WEBTV!

HOW TO ADD PICTURES TO YOUR EMAIL

The first time I ever saw a "jazzed up" email page, I thought; "WOW! I wish I could do that! It must take forever to learn!" You know what? It's EASY!

First of all, you need to go to your Mail List (That's where you open up your email) & click on the "Settings" button, on the left hand side of the page. This will take you to another page, where you will click on "Signature"

You will see a box, that you can type in. This is where you will put all your html codes, to add pictures to your email.

Now that you know WHERE to put it, you can get started!

NOTICE: Many sites do not allow direct "Linking" to their images & sounds! Make sure to try to only use files from LINKABLE sites, or to TRANSLOAD your files. For information about transloading, visit these sites:

Now, you may ask, "WHAT? I have to learn this transloading stuff, too? But I don't even know HTML! What IS HTML, anyway? Isn't there any way I can just type in the stuff, & not have to do all that?"

HTML stands for "HyperText MarkupLanguage."

All that means, is that it is a special language, used by computers, which tells one computer what kind of information to send to another.Sort of like a universal translator. When you type in an HTML code, you are, in essence, telling the computer; "Hey! When someone views my page, I want them to see this picture, & hear this sound!" Hope that explains it for you!

Now, in answer to your other question: Well, YES! Some sites, happily, are totally LINKABLE- which means that you can "direct-link" to their files! However, sometimes webmasters do work on their pages, and change around the addresses, so, if you don't transload, your files may not always work! So, check out my page on TRANSLOADING! I will explain to you what took me forever to learn! (Well, it seemed like it, anyway!)

THE FREELOADER

These sites are OK for email images, though! Go take a look, find an image you like, and get the URL (all that means is "address"- see, you are learning already!) & write it down.(You will learn "Cut & Paste" LATER...after you get the hang of this! One thing at a time!) To get the URL, click on the image to view it, then hit your "GoTo" button. Then, click on "ShowLast". Sometimes, all you need to hit is "Info", but go the "GoTo" route, just to make sure the URL is complete. You will see an address, that begins with "http://..." THAT is the URL of the image you want. Write it down, EXACTLY as shown- if there is a capital "P", WRITE a capital "P", not a lower case one! It should look something like this:

http://www.notarealaddy.com/fakegi f.gif

HERE ARE A COUPLE OF SITES WHERE YOU CAN LINK DIRECTLY TO THE GRAPHICS! GO FIND AN IMAGE YOU LIKE, GET THE URL, & HIT YOUR "BACK" BUTTON, TO COME BACK HERE TO LEARN HOW TO PUT IT IN YOUR PAGE!

"OK, I found an image I like, I have the URL...Now what?"

OK! Go back to your "Signature" box, & type in the following:(Just make sure to use the "Arrow" keys,(< and >) instead of the "( & )" keys, OK?)

(html)(IMG SRC="http://addressofpictureyoufound.gif")(/html)

That's all there is to it! If you want the image CENTERED on the page, just type (CENTER) before the (IMG & (/CENTER) after the .gif")

Try it! It's EASY!
