THE BEEHIVES

Unusual sandstone formations that have been weathered and shaped by the eroding forces of wind and water.


PETRIFIED LOGS

Logs that washed into this area from ancient forest millions of years ago. There are short trails leading to the two separate viewing locations.


ATLATL ROCK

A site that features many Indian petroglyphs, including a depiction of the atlatl. The atlatl was a notched stick used to add speed and distance to the spear. It was a predecessor to the bow and arrow.


SCENIC LOOP ROAD

A two mile trip through some of the most interesting and unusual rock formations in the valley.


PETROGLYPH CANYON TRAIL

A half mile round trip walk through a canyon that leads to Mouse's Tank. Many fine examples of prehistoric Indian rock writing are displayed here.


MOUSE'S TANK

A natural basin in the rock where water collects after a rainfall. Mouse's Tank was named for a renegade Indian who used the area as a hideout in the late 1800's.


RAINBOW VISTA

A favorite stopping point for the photographer. It offers a panoramic view of the multi colored sandstone formations.


FIRE CANYON / SILICA DOME

A three mile round trip walk from the Rainbow Vista area. This trail provides an excellent view of the deep red sandstone of Fire Canyon and the geological features of the Silica Dome.


WHITE DOMES

A newly paved scenic roadway leads to this area of brilliantly colored sandstone. The area also provides an array of desert plant life.


THE SEVEN SISTERS

A display of seven fascinating rock formations along the main roadway. Picnic tables are also available in this area.


THE CABINS

A picnic area that features stone cabins built with native sandstone by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's as shelter for travelers passing through the area.


ELEPHANT ROCK

An interesting and unusual rock formation a short distance off the main roadway. The name says it all.
