It seems odd that the sesquibicentennial anniversary of such an important event in the history of the Mountain State is passing unnoticed by our Division of Culture & History. It is up to those of us interested in 18th century history to remind our fellow West Virginians of such events and perhaps interpret them to the general public at every opportunity. This charge has prompted me to write this piece. I hope it stirs some interest in the early history of our state.
