Starships
"Human beings (and their cousin intelligence…) (may)
Extend their horizons until…it becomes coterminous
With the bounds of the universe"
Isaac Asimov, 1982
STARSHIPS
When out among the galaxies at last,
In awesome depths of starlit space divine,
We will really feel fulfilled for certain,
Light years from hurt Earth’s double crossing frauds,
On our questing search for new Holy Grails.
Buxom Goddesses will sanctify flight
To seed and colonise new settlements
Way-stations on an odyssey to worlds
As yet undreamed. Beauty must be standard
Everywhere, intelligence the strong bond
For a family growing ever larger.
What pastures new as adventures unfold
For always, love not hate our happy lot!
Brain power not greed for gain will be the forge
Making our eternity to quench needs
Ever driving us from the very first.
Of this immanent command we must take heed,
Written on this signpost for all to read!
