ROPER, William H. Born circa 1874 in Leeds. In 1881 he was living at the home of Mary Ann Walker and his relationship to her was grandson (according to the census). To add to this mystery there was a James Roper born circa 1827 also lodging there, his relationship is shown as lodger, not son-in-law, so it would appear he was not William's father. There is no female Roper in residence.
