Oh believers!
fastings have been made obligatory upon you as were made
obligatory upon those before you, so that may that you
may become pious. (2:183) The days are fixed. Then whoso among you is ill or on a journey, then fast in other days, and those who have no strength, they should give a ransom meal to a needy person; then whoso does more good voluntarily, then that is better for him, and fasting is better for you if you only knew. (2:184) The month of Ramadan in which the Qur'an was sent down, direction for mankind and guidance and clear signs of judgement; that whoso of you finds this month, necessarily, he should fast in it, and whoso is ill or on a journey then fast the same number in other days; Allah desires facility for you and desires not hardship and for this, that you should complete the counting and speak Of the Greatness of Allah, as He guided you and so that you may be grateful. (2:185) It was made lawful for you to go near your wives in the nights of fasting. They are your garments and are theirs. Allah knows that you used to put your soul in defalcation, then He accepted your repentance and pardoned you; so now associate with them and seek what Allah has written in your destiny and eat and drink until white thread becomes distinct from black thread at the dawn; then complete the fast till coming of night, and do not touch your wives while you confine yourselves to the mosques for devotion. These are the limit of Allah, do not approach them. Allah thus describe His Signs to the people, so that may become pious. ( 2:187) Undoubtedly, We sent it (the Qur'an) down in the blessed and valuable night. And what do you understand what the blessed night is? The blessed and valuable night is better than a thousand months. Therein descend angles and Jibril (the Spirit) by the command of their Lord for every affair; it is full of peace (and lasts) till the rising ofthe dawn. (97: 1 -5) |
