Ramadhan

Allah the Almighty said: "O you who believe, fasting is made obligatory on you as it was made for those before you, so that you may achieve Taqwa. " (Qur'an 2:183)

Note: Taqwa is translated sometimes as piety, sometimes as consciousness of Allah, sometimes as fear of Allah. It is derived from the word Wiqayah,  which means 'Shield'

Poetry
Imam Ghazali...
Imam Ghazali woke up one early morning and as usual offered his prayers and then enquired what day it was, his younger brother, AhmadGhazali replied,"Monday." He asked him to bring his white shroud, kissed it, stretched himself full length and saying "Lord, I obey willingly," breathed his last. And underneath his head rest they found the following verses; composed by him, probably, during the night.
