'The Messenger a light is, source of light,
An Indian blade, a drawn sword of God's swords,
Amid Quraysh companions. When they chose
Islam in Mecca's vale, men said: "Be gone!"
They went, not weaklings, not as men that flee,
Swaying upon their mounts and poorly armed,
But heroes proud and noble of mien, bright-clad
In mail of David's weave, for the encounter'. (p 314)

As rendered in Sirat Rasulallah by Muhammad Ibn Ishaq translated by
A. Gufilaume, published by Oxford University Press, Lahore, 1955.

By Hazrat Abdullah ibn Rawaha, Radi Allahu Anhu

'May God confirm the good things He gave you
As he confirmed them to Moses with victory.
I perceived goodness in you by a natural gift
God knows that I can see deeply
You are the Apostle and he who is deprived of his gifts
And the sight of him has no real worth. (p 523)

By Hazrat Ka'b ibn Malik, Radi Allahu Anhu

'Among us was God's Apostle whose command we obey
When he gives an order we do not examine it
The spirit descends on him from His Lord:
Brought down from the midst of heaven and taken up again.
We consult him on our wishes, and our desire
Is to obey him in all that he wants. (p 406)

By Hazrat Malik Bin Auf, Radi Allahu Anhu

'I have never seen or heard of a man
Like Muhammad In the whole world;
Faithful to his word and generous when asked for a gift
And when you wish he will tell you of the future.
When the squadron shows its strength
With spears and swords that strike,
In the dust of war he is like a lion
Guarding its cubs in its den. (p 594)

As rendered in Ad-Da'wah At-Tammah Wat-tadhkiratul 'Ammah by Imam Abdallah Bin Alawi AI Haddad, translate by Mohamed Mlamali Adam in consultation with Sayyid Omar Bin Abdallah.

By Hazrat Hassan Bin Thabit, Radi Allahu Anhu

'By God, no woman has conceived and given birth
To one like the Apostle, the Prophet and guide of his people;
Nor has God created among his creatures
One more faithful to his sojourner or his promise
Than he who was the source of light,
Blessed in his deeds, just and upright.

By Hazrat Hassan Bin Thabit, Radi Allahu Anhu

'He vested him with a name from his Name derived
That he may rise empyrean high
High as stands the crest of the sublime
Behold who the Throne possesses is Mahmud called
While this one is a Muhammad hailed. (p 689-690)
