Dear Kathy,
I have been reviewing the veterans listing of Oakwood cemetery, Erie County, NY. I have been researching CW veteran burials for 16 years.
Sometimes I come across someone who has a claim that must be disputed. It is claimed that he deserted, but the facts do not support it.

Mr. Donner died 1862 as was listed in this listing. He also was claimed to have deserted at this time.
It is my opinion that he did not desert as stated but died and was unaccounted for.
I realize that the adjutant says this, but I will also tell you that this report hand hundreds of mistakes.

He was 17 years of age and I believe he died before he could have deserted.
This is why I do not list the later as it may be a disservice to he and his ancestry.

Don
