Jade was born in the busom of the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1960, insisting from the get go that she didn't want to pick just ONE career to do for her whole life. She began singing professionally as a teenager, and studied to become a missionary until the classical concert stage called to her. She changed her major to vocal performance, and left NC to study voice at a liberal arts college in Mississippi. From there she moved to south Florida and pursued a wide variety of interests, often simultaneously, and enjoyed careers in: professional theatre, radio, teaching, counseling, stand up comedy, corporate management, massage therapy.

She and her life-partner, Rebel Silk, met in 1994 and joined households in 1995. In 1996, they moved from Florida back to Jade's home state of N.C. where they lived in bliss with the wildlife and the seasons.
