TCAD Synthesis: Objectives
Primary objective ? construct a general “framework” for the design and optimization of ultra-small transistors for a given technology
- A link between the device performance parameters (“targets”) and the process variations (“variables”).
- A guide for process/device engineers in technology development and transistor optimization.
Major objectives
- The approach must be general and efficient so that it is repeatable.
- The database range should cover all major design variables.
- The compact models will be formulated using nonlinear regression.
- The target parameters should be modeled/formulated as a “change.”
- The framework should be able to provide trends for transistor scaling.
- The framework should be able to provide a guide in multi-target optimization and process centering.
- The framework should be able to quantify the error of the TCAD database and the compact models.
