TCAD Synthesis: Scope and Advantages

• Scope

  • Constrained to the simulation data obtained from the TCAD models.
  • Full-loop calibration will be considered separately.
  • The validity and the relevance of the constructed framework will depend on the physical models used and the actual device characteristics measured.

• Advantages

  • The constructed framework can be relatively easily repeated if a new technology or physical model is given.
  • Accuracy vs. speed can be traded-off by using the most complex models and dense grids for the construction of the database, while the compact models would be extremely efficient to use with quantifiable accuracy.
  • The compact models could in principle be extracted from the measured data. The compact models would also smooth out the fluctuations in the original TCAD data, and are definitive in nature.
  • The approach makes use of the expertise of professional modeling efforts and provides a solution for non-expert engineers.
