Romero nicely captures the look of a comic book in this homage to 1950s E. C. Comics, but Stephen King's five ``fantastic tales'' of revenge and just desserts are transparent and heavy-handed (King himself stars in the second episode, as an ill-fated rube). Finale has hundreds of cockroaches bursting through the stomach of a man with an insect phobia (Marshall). If that's your cup of tea, tune in. Followed by a sequel.

Synopsis   Order this Item
Five tales of horror, gore, and morbid humor, written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero. The film's style is a tribute to E.C. Comics, the horror\camp comic books popular in the 1950s. Beware (or watch for) a scene featuring hundreds of cockroaches!!

Video Description   Order this Item
An amusing anthology featuring tales of wry terror from author Stephen King, presented in the style of gruesome comic book episodes.

Video Annotation   Order this Item
King himself plays a dim-witted farmer in the second story.

A classic in screen "Style".
An outstanding cast in a group of horror stories that will make your skin crawl. A genuine example of the best in film style. Really captures the spirit of the old comic books with great graphics and editing. The E.G. Marshall episode with the roaches is for strong stomachs, but it is a delicious satire. A really "fun" movie!

very creepy
A nice collection of short stories done by Stephen King. Although some people may find some of the stories strange. Because it's not the usual ghosts in haunted houses

Stephen King IS an OUTSTANDING , AMAZING writer !
For all of you that say " This book is not worth reading " or , " This book is pathetic and barely tolerable ", YOU'RE WRONG ! I would like to say that this is not one of his best books but it is very enjoyable . I would not critisize such a writer , it takes intelligence to scare someone with something you've written . When I read books by Mr. King , It's better than watching any movie or going anywhere because you make the people what you want them to be , look like , a movie in your head . I think everyone of his books are worth reading . I think everyone of his books are AMAZING !!!!!! SO THERE CRITICAL PEOPLE . Have a nice day (smile)

ALTHOUGH THIS WASN'T ONE OF STEPHEN KINGS BEST WORKS. I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A MORE GENTLE WAY TO INTROUDUCE A YOUNGER AUDIENCE TO THE HORROR WORLD.ITS NOT TO SCARY BUT ENOUGH TO SAFELY SCARE THE YOUNGER GROUP.

I found to this book to be pointless and dumb. This is one of Stephen King's earlier books, so I won't be too hard on him. "Father's Day" had no piont whatsoever. In King's weak attempt to make the story suspenseful, I found myself rolling around laughing one the floor; not hiding under the covers with goosebumps covering my body. All the other stories pretty much had the same effect on me. The movie was even worse! Never before have I seen something so pitiful come out of Stephen King. In conclusion, don't waste your time reading this pathetic excuse for a book unless you need a good laugh.
