Frequently Asked Questions about the group daylily-spider 

Q.  Who can join the Spider Robin?
A.    Anyone who loves the Spider and Unusual Form Daylilies.
 
Q.    Is AHS membership necessary for joining this group?
A.    No.  But, those who don't are in the minority. 
 
Q.    Why join AHS?
A.    It brings one further information about Daylilies, and allows one to join the AHS Robin.  AHS = American Hemerocallis Society, when is for Daylilies.  The website for the American Hemerocallis Society is http://www.daylilies.org/
 
Q.    Are there limits on posting on the Spider Robin.
A.    No.  But please be responsible about quoting only the part of the message to which you wish to reply.
 
Q.    Are photographs allowed to be posted on the group?
A.    Yes.  But, please try to keep photo size under 100 KB, with under 80 KB being even better.
 
Q.   Clicking Reply sends the message to the group.  How do I respond to someone offlist?
A.  Either click on their e-mail address, or delete the group address from the To window, and copy and paste the individual's address there. 
 
Q.  Why does a reply go to the whole group?
A.  That is so that most of the good information goes to everyone.  Sometimes, a few people get embarassed, but we all have fun. 
 
Q.  How do I get rid of the Yahoo stuff on the right side of the message?
A.  Use the Traditional Yahoo format.  A member can set themselves to Traditional, or have a Moderator to do it.
 
Q.  Are signature blocks allowed?
A.   Yes.
 
Q.  Why does mail from the group suddenly stop?
A.   For any of several reasons, your mail is bouncing.  You can reactivate, or get help from a Moderator.
 
Q.  I want the mail, but not the pictures?
A.   Use the Daily digest mode. 
 
Q.  If I want group mail stopped temporarily, do I have to leave the group?
A.  No.  There is a nomail option. 
 
Q.  I need help with the group.  Who do I contact?
A.  using the address daylily-spider-owner@yahoogroups.com will send the message to all four moderators. 
 
Q.  Why are group features available only to members?
A.   For your security.
 
Q.  Why is membership to this group restricted?
A.   To keep out Internet trolls and spammers.  Those types are not welcome here. 
 
Q.   Does one have to live in the USA to join this group?
A.   No.  We have members in Canada and several countries overseas.  Spider/Unusual Form Daylily lovers are welcome regardless of where they live. 
 
Q.  Why are political messages mostly discouraged?
A.  Because we are an international group, and have people of varied opinions.  If in doubt about a message, contact a moderator. 
 
Q.  Is disagreement permitted?
A.  Yes, but be civil.  No flaming. 
 
Q.  Are spouses or children of Spider Robin members allowed to post?
A.  Yes. 
 
Q.  How can a new member join the Spider Robin?
A.  By visiting http://groups.yahoo.com/group/daylily-spider/    Members of the group can refer new members to me by e-mail.   
 
Q.   Should I send a reply that would interest only one person to the whole group
A.   Due to volume on the group, please send it privately.
 
Q.  May I use another person's photos?
A.  Only with permission of the photographer.  Then, be sure to give the photographer proper credit.
