Salvation

Do you think you will be able to get to heaven by doing good deeds, or by giving money to a church? Let's see what the Bible has to say about that.

None are righteous

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10)

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away" (Isaiah 64:6)

All have sinned

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8)

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us" (1 John 1:10)

There is a penalty for sin

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23)

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15)

You can not save yourself

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5)

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all" (James 2:10)

Jesus has already provided the way for you

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6)

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)

"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his rainment, and cast lots" (Luke 23:34)

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6)

All you need to do is:

  • repent of your sins,
"I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3)

  • confess that Jesus is Lord,
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9)

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9-10)

  • and believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose again to pay for your sins.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house" (Acts 16:31)

Now is the time for decision

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" (Joshua 24:15)

"For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2)

After you accept Jesus, you should share your new faith by:

  • confessing Jesus before men,
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 10:32-33)

  • joining a church which follows the New Testament,
"Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved" (Acts 2:47)

  • and by telling others about Jesus.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 28:19-20)
