Wenger loses his temper

We always knew Arsene as a gentle man who would explain players' mistakes in quiet and gentle manner. But the defeat by Liverpool finally got him. Now he  threatens  with selling  some of the club leading players.

Everything started with the shameful defeat by Bradford. Probably then he decided that his personal intervention might be needed. But he still was nice with reporters, explaining the causes of the defeat.

The next game was the important one. It actually decided if Arsenal was going to the Champions League, probably in company with Leeds and United, and also it might have given them some chances to win the title. Defeat for Arsenal. Wenger says that most of his players are no worth the wages they get. And says he would sell them if they don't show the right attitude and effort for the game. If that happens it would be sad. Because the current Arsenal team has been creating since the October of 1996.

In December of 1997 Arsenal, following a heavy defeat by Blackburn, found themselves in the similar position that they occupy now. Besides, Tony Adams was thinking that was the time for the showdown. Wenger called a team meeting where he said that there were not enough Englishmen to win the demanding home league.

The message hit home. That year Arsenal won not only the title but the FA Cup as well.

Perhaps this is time now to repeat the story of 1997. Philosophy is good, but sometimes players should be simply afraid. Maybe this'll make to show the right attitude and effort.

All this makes next home game against Southampton the vital one.
