First and most important thing to teach your chihuahua is going outside to take care of business. Refrain from teaching anything else until your chihuahua gets this one right.

When training your chihuahua make sure that you're in an area in the home or outside where there are no distractions. Provide lots of treats and praise for your applehead. This lets them know you're pleased and in return makes them happy, too.

After housebreaking the standard commends to teach your chihuahua are "Come", "Sit", "Stay" and "Down". Have authority in your voice when teaching and giving commands. A chihuahua will try every trick in the book to ignore you. Keep your training sessions short and active. Make it fun for your chihuahua or they'll lose interest. Use one word commands when teaching as to not confuse them. Do not use agressive discipline. Calmly say "No" if your dog gets it wrong, give no treat and start from the beginning.
