Recognize that our
families are very connected to each other and we are all working to help
the children enjoy life in general to the greatest extent possible.
Realize that HIV/AIDS is
incurable at this time and we never can claim that everything will be
okay, even though we all hope for a "cure" or
"miracle".
We all honor the racial,
ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity of all of our families.
It doesn't matter who they are or what they have done. we are
concerned about the welfare of the children.
We share with the parents
their concerns, hopes and prayers for their children.
We will try to
accommodate the families on the time frame that is most congenial to the
majority of the families.
We will try to be a
support to the children and their families.
Training is of the utmost
importance so as we can bring services to the families. If there is
a need in which we can be of assistance we will let it be known to
officers of the board so we can work on it expediently.
Understanding and
incorporating the needs of the children are certainly our top
priority. If you don't know of services, inquire on the child's
behalf, or call the office or a board member.
Be involved in decision
making processes of the board. Volunteers are always encouraged to
attend all meetings. Your ideas are very helpful for us to be a
success.
Encourage others in the
community to learn about your involvement with our organization. We
will even talk to a group of your friends. The more volunteers we
have the lighter the load and the more services we can give these special
children. |
