More Artifacts at the Bend in Reull Vallis

- back -

There are numerous other interesting features in this photograph.  The long diagonally-positioned one below caught my eye, because it is clearly casting a shadow on the ground to its right.

This has the look of debris.

Then, if you look more closely, slightly to the left is a very distinct flattened cube with a dome centered precisely on top!

This looks more like something that could be inhabited.  In fact, doesn't it resemble something human engineers might build?

Is that an ingress at ground level on the right side?

In case you can't see it, I outlined this feature in blue.

What's even more interesting is that its straight edges and corners are precisely aligned with the rectangular platform above.

This cube is about 12 pixels (33m or 110') wide and 7 pixels (19.5m, 64') high.

The dome is roughly 28m in diameter and 14m high, making the whole cube-dome thing about the size of a 5-6 story house.

If the rectangular area is an artifact, I cannot rule out the possibility that the entire surrounding area  (http://ida.wr.usgs.gov/fullres/divided/fha011/fha01190a.jpg) might be full of artifacts.

So we ought to carefully scan the area around the platform, and the adjacent MOC photos.

For example what is this (located at ground level, under the right lip of the rectangular feature)?  A spacecraft?  A land vehicle?  A habitat?  More debris?   I have no idea.

Or, what is this?  Might it be wreckage or debris resulting from the destruction of the rectangular structure?

This object seems to be lying on the surface, some distance from the platform.
