ScanDisk starts and restarts without an error message.
It may be that another program is running that is changing the
disk's contents while these utilities are trying to do their work.
One of the leading culprits is FastFind, which is part of Microsoft
Office. Turn off FastFind, and you may find that ScanDisk and Disk
Defragmenter can complete without restarting.
