While you are thinking about your basic wardrobe you want to consider how you can accessorize. This is lots of fun because you can be creative, original and different. You can add personal touches from head to toe. When you work on your complete look you will feel really put together. Accessorizing is finding those things for your neck, ears, wrists, waist, ankles, fingers and arms that make you an individual.

Start at the top with your neck. You can always wear some kind of necklace or choker. To decide which to wear consider the neckline of the shirt of sweater. If the neckline is higher you may want to wear a choker higher up on the neck. If you are wearing a button front blouse or v-neck you may want to consider a drop or pendant. You can make your own jewelry with macram, beads, chain and pendants. Or combine really interesting beads with different kinds of pendants.

Then you can go down to your wrist. You can usually put on a bracelet beside your watch. Sometimes you can add a lot of bracelets to make it look funkier. Bangles, beads, friendship bracelets and wristbands are all great ways to make a statement.

You probably have a belt or two but only wear those when it looks right with the outfit. Sometimes you may want to wear more than one belt at the same time. A few basic belts can enhance any pant.

Ankle bracelets look really cool. They are especially fine with Capri pants. One anklet can be a sophisticated enhancement with pants, skirts or dresses.

You can have a few rings. Wear different ones depending upon my mood. Or wear rings on a few fingers. You can collect them one at a time. Try to wear the same color metal at the same times, silvers with silvers, golds with golds. You can combine other materials with metals but try to coordinate colors.

It is fun to collect accessories and mix and match them. You can wear a few things together. When you in a dress for a special occasion you may want to wear fewer accessories so that it highlights the clothing. Maybe just a necklace and a bracelet are all you need to enhance that dance outfit. Beads, pearls or crystals can all be very effective. Let us know what you think looks good.

COLOR!

I know as a general rule you are not suppose to wear certain colors. I say throw that rule out.

I like to wear a little of the pastel colors. In the fall and even the winter. Pastel colors like pink and blue make me feel soft and feminine. I wear pastel colors on my top half like sweaters and t-shirts. If it is cold outside I wear my winter jacket. Sometimes when I am in the mood to feel older or in the night time I wear black. My favorite cardigan is black cashmere. It is important to know that some colors may look nicer on you than others.

Have a friend hold different colors up to your face and ask which colors look best for you. I like to mix different colors. For instance, I just did a photo session and I put on different tank tops together. The two different colors looked cool on top of one another. I also like to wear colored cordoroy pants. My favorite pair are red. I like to wear them when I am in a party mood. Have fun with colors and do not forget all colors go with jeans and black pants.

HAIR STYLES!

Hairstyle and accessories play a very important part of the whole look. After getting dressed and accessorizing my outfit, I look at my hair and decide what to do. Sometimes I like to pull part of my hair up by twisting the top part up and then using a favorite clip or two. Then I clip it. (Sparkle clips are great.) You can do that when you want to feel like being a little more trendy.

Another great hairstyle - especially for a party or special occasion - can be easily created by clipping one side of your hair to the side. You can slowly build a collection of hair clips to match your different outfits. When your hair is longer and you're wearing jeans or capri pants try pigtails. I don't put them high up but I tie them lower using black or colored bands. You can also have fun with your friends designing French Braids and other intricate designs. Colored ribbons and strips of fabrics make great highlights.

If you have shorter hair, clips and barrettes look really great. You can use them in front and on the side. Whether you leave your hair natural or gel it, these clips can add highlights.

If you have longer hair, you may want to weave in some beads for a special occasion. They're inexpensive and it can really help you make an individual statement.

This past summer, a favorite accessory was scarves for hair. That was a great look when we were feeling French. Whatever mood you're in, you can easily do something different with, your hair. It can give you a completely new look everyday and you get to play with fun hair accessories.
