Article IV
Relations of the States to Each Other
- Full Faith and Credit- legal proceedings and public acts in one state are to be considered valid in every other state.
example- Joe and Jane are married in Ohio. Their marriage is valid in Arizona.
- Extradition- A criminal who committed a crime in one state and flees to another may be returned to the state where the crime was committed.
example- Jim robs a bank in Kentucky, and then flees to California. He must be returned to Kentucky for a trial.
- Priveliges and Immunities- Citizens of one state will recieve the same privileges and immunities as citizens of other states.
example- if citizens of Tennessee have right "x," then a citizen of Maine travelling to Tennessee will also have right "x" while in Tennessee.
- Guarantees to the States by the Federal Government- The National Government guarantees to each state a Republican government, and that it will protect them from domestic violence.
example- all states will be set up with a republican government.
