Here There Be Dragons

~ Walking along in my parent's garden as I normally do, I stumbled across this very odd rainbow colored egg. I'd never seen such an egg of this massive size, but from my royal tutelage, I deduced that it could belong only to a dragon. Afraid of telling my parents, for I'm sure it could be used for some kind of magical potion, or that it would be a delicacy for the kitchens, I rolled it over into the foliage.

~ I diligently visited the egg everyday, in roundabout ways, to be certain no others had found it. Two months it took to hatch, but I didn't mind. Rather I was quite eager to see what kind of dragon would hatch out of the multi-colored egg. I was having a small picnic next to the bush I put the egg under when it began to make an odd noise. I realized a moment later that the egg was cracking! Small cracks started to appear. One claw breaks through the hard outer shell of the egg, and soon many claws are breaking away at the hole. I ran over to the Dragon, trying to help it break free, and was soon rewarded by a large, wobbly dragon with claws falling into my lap, completely exhausted. But before it fell asleep, I heard in my mind, "Mine! I choose You! You are my bondmate!" and then it fell gently asleep in my arms. My heart filled with joy at my new baby Dragon, and I vowed to always protect it against the world's harms. (Thanks to DragonRose for the majority of the hatching story). Looking at it asleep in my arms, I thought it to be a rather odd dragon. It looked like a large black caterpillar with rainbow eyes.

Here's a picture of Kylisa when she was a Dragonpillar.

~ Later, after some research in my parent's library, I discovered that this dragon was in fact a Dragonpillar. That she would grow up to be a rainbow butterfly dragon. We spent much time together and soon I gave her the name Kylisa. She seemed to like her name quite a bit. Her favorite places in the garden are the fountains and ponds because she likes looking at her reflection. Sometimes I tease her about turning into a flower.

~ Whilst wandering out to see my little Dragonpillar, I got quite a shock. Little Kylisa was no longer the dragon I knew and in her place was a giant cocoon. I shall just have to await her hatching now.

Here's a picture of Kylisa when she was a teenager in her Cocoon stage.

~ I never thought having a dragon would get boring. Sigh. But this dragon just had to become a cocoon. It was bad enough waiting for Kylisa to hatch the first time, but a second? This is unbelievable. I hope she hatches soon. My parents want to send me of to Shanidar for a few months to learn under Mielke. Not something I'm looking forward to. The last thing I want to do is study under some stuffy guy and do nothing fun at all. So what if he's good friends with my grandfather and father. Doesn't mean I have to go learn stuff from him. Hatch soon, Kylisa.

~ Finally! She's hatched! (again) I'm glad she did so before my parents sent me off to Shanidar. Now she can follow behind the air chariot to the island, since my parents don't know about her yet. Kylisa is so beautiful in her full adult form, she likes the ponds and fountains even more now. I hope she stays hidden from my parents though. I don't want them to get mad at her, but she is fairly hard to keep tucked away. Good thing they've been too busy running Qalondai to be able to walk through the gardens much.

~ Ah, here we are on Shanidar. Mielke isn't half as bad as I thought, though classes on politics are BOOOOOORING! Magic is nifty though. He isn't as old , or at least not as old looking, as I thought he would be either. But he does refuse to call me Jemmy like most other people did at the palace. He insists that a princess should be addressed by her true name. So now I have to sign everything Malonia el'Kalor. I've had the nickname Jemmy since before I can remember. Oh well, Kylisa still calls me Jemmy. Kylisa likes it here a lot. The entire island is a huge jungle. Well, almost. There's a big mountain in the center of it, so I suppose that's not very junglelike. She hates the clothing Mielke has me wear though, saying it doesn't go well with my hair. I told her that it protected me from any magic that might go astray, so then she agreed that it's a good thing I wear it, but still complained about it not going with my hair. ~ Oh, I hope that Jemmy and Mandarb don't miss me too much. I'll be back with them soon enough, but Mielke told me about this wonderous mirror. It's in the bottom of these mountains and I have to go through a few caves to get there. I just have to see it. I wish Jemmy could have come, but she has to take care of Mandarb and Mandarb is too young to fly about the world. I'll bring them both here someday.

~ Wow, there are so many caves here, I don't know which one to pick. Well, I just need one to sleep in right now. My wings are so tired. They ache too. I guess all of that flying around on Shanidar didn't give me enough exercise.

~ Well, some of the most amazing things have been happening. When I woke up from what I suppose was a long rest, there were 3 dragons and a human standing near me. I'd accidentally hit one of them, his name was Cure'osity. He didn't stay for very long, but he was quite a handsome looking Rainbow Butterfly-type of dragon. Though he didn't look completely pure blood. There was another dragon who was quite rude. His name was Mur'mur from what I remember anyway. Then there was Aset, the human, who was their bondmate. Like Jemmy is mine. But lastly, there was this fire dragon named Masquerade. He was quite intriquing and indeed, was the only one who stayed behind while the others scampered off. We went down to a hot spring so that I could relax my muscles, which were quite worn out from all of that flying I did. While there, I met Shadow Rose and two other dragons, Flutterby and Braeden. After a complete soaking by Braeden, Masquerade and I went off to the meadow for a snack. I'll tell you more later.

~ Wow, I met so many dragons in the meadow it was unbelievable. The only two that I can remember well are Quentin and Kyra'lyn. Quentin was a loud mouthed young dragon who was teasing the poor Dragonpillars saying that they weren't real dragons. I wasn't there at the time he said this, else I would have given him a piece of my mind. Imagine, a Rainbow Butterfly Dragon not being a real dragon. Hrmph. Kyra'lyn is a little Dragonpillar who's also my *sister*. Yes, I have a sister! She joined me for a little while while Masquerade was getting something to eat. He loves meat, but I was in more of a mood for pollen. So Kyra'lyn and I went off to find a big patch of pollen. While playing, and eating, with it, Masquerade returned. He had an allergic reaction to pollen! We got him out of there as soon as we realized it. You know, even all puffed up Masquerade is really cute. We, Kyra'lyn and I, took him over to a lake so we could make sure that all of the pollen was off of him. While he was swimming out in the lake this horrible dragon, though we didn't know it was a dragon at the time, came along and pulled Masquerade under the water! What were we to do? After trying to save him, even though I guess I didn't need to, and being pulled under, the dragon left. I think her name was.... Sea Wench? Ah there's too much to tell. Let's just end by saying I think I'm back in Shanidar! Masquerade and I found that mirror Mielke told me about, at least I think we did. Well it was a small lake! The reflection was of Shanidar and not of the cave that we were in. I took one last look at Masquerade, to imprint his image into my brain, though I'm pretty sure that was already done, and dove in. I didn't expect it to work, I thought I'd end up in the water or something, but it did work! I think... Now all I have to do is find Jemmy and Mandarb..

~Author's note: Quick catch up. Masquerade and Kylisa became lifemates and went back to DRAC with Jemmy and Mandarb.

~ Oh! Juliette left us some carnations. Here's a pic of them. :)

~ Eeee, being heavy with egg is not that great a feeling. At least it doesn't last very long. So far only Aset and Jemmy have chosen an egg out of the 5 of mine and Masquerade's clutch. Aset took a pretty rainbow colored egg and Jemmy took a dark red one. The other's are still here in the cave with us. I'm still waiting for Masquerade to finish the hot spring. Oh! And Masquerade gave me a snow globe for Valentine's Day! I put it in our cave.

~ You can find the children by clicking on their names. Maesilea, Chur'Bay, Strabo, Treasure, and Pablo.

~ Maesilea, the Fire Fly out of the clutch that Jemmy adopted, has turned into an adult. Thankfully, she did so after all of the flooding in DRAC. Masquerade and I stayed in our cave with the last of our eggs watching the rain. It was beautiful.

~ Well, all of the Fire Fly dragons have been adopted out. If you didn't get one this time, you can try for the next clutch.

~ Oh, look at what Masquerade got me for my birthday!!

~ How time flies. Speaking of flies... there's another clutch of Fire Flies. Yes, Masquerade and I have had our second clutch. Feel free to visit them. Iridess and Blood Star

~ My wonderful Masquerade. It's hard to believe that we've been bonded for an entire year now and have two clutches. Right now he's away taking care of Aset with all of her other dragons. I miss him, but he left something for me so that I wouldn't get quite so lonely.

~ Masquerade sent me something else as well.

~ Oh! Look at what Masquerade got me for my birthday! Aren't they so pretty?
