SearchingDIXON, GILL, MCEWEN

Query:
Searching for Samuel H. DIXON, b. Ireland 1809, d. Ogdensbury, NY, 2 Aug 1894 and his wife, Elizabeth Ann GILL, b. Ireland, 1804, d. Ogdensburg, NY 29 Mar 1893.  The had two children born in Matilda Township, Patience Alice, b. 11 Jul 1852 and Samuel H., Hr., b. 1847.
Their older daughter, Martha M., b. 1839 may have been born in Ireland.
I expect that they were famine immigrants to Canada.  They didn't stay long in Canada; by 1855, they moved to Ogdensburg, where Samuel H. DIXON, Sr. is listed as a grocer.  However, Elizabeth Ann GILL seems to have been the duaghter of William J. Gill, who was born in Ireland, c.1780 and died in Upper Canada, Mar, 1871.  He had a son named Thomas GILL, who was a farmer near Cornwall, Ont. He marrried Alice GREEN; they had several children, one of whom became the second wife of William MCEWEN, after Martha DIXON's death in 1862.  There must have been considerable contact between the Canadian family and the states.
A Frederick Dixon,  a farm hand in Heuvelton, NY, died suddenly in 1918.  He was buried in their family plot in the Ogdensburgh Cemetery.  Any information appreciated.

SearchingDOUGLAS, BROWN, MCEWEN, MORRISON

Query:
Andrew Brown (ae30)and wife, Rachel McEwen (ae30) on 1851/52 census for
North Gower, with their children Lucy, Jane, James, and William.
Andrew is a widower on 1861 census for North Gower, with children Lucy, Jane, James, William, and Rachel.  On 1871 census for North Gower Andrew (ae47)has taken a wife and has two more children, Agnes and John. Her name is Mary J (ae47) but don't know her maiden name.
Rachel (b1854) later marries William Douglas (b1852) shortly after the 1871 census [his parents were James and Esther (Morrison) Douglas].
Andrew was born in Scotland, Rachel (Andrew's first wife  in Ontario, Mary J in Ireland, and James and Esther in Ireland.
Anyone have 'bells ringing' or knows Mary J's maiden name, or who Agnes or John married (they were ae 8 and ae 5, respectively  on the 1871 census)? Knowing the parents of Andrew and Rachel McEwen Brown, Mary J, and James and Esther Morrison Brown would also be a bonus! One of William and Rachel's daughters
(Ethel Matilda Douglas b 1891) married Gerald Burnaby Crowder,  in 1909, in Kemptville.

SearchingMERKLEY, BRINSTON, DONALDSON

Query:
Looking for information on the family of Ira Merkley, born January 1830 in Matilda and died there 10 May 1893.  His obituary states he was the son of Jacob Merkley and husband of Martha Donaldson.  It also mentions his brothers Henry (died before 1863 at Cameron mill), George H. (in ill health in Milwaukee), Herman, William G., John H. and Marcus.  Ira's daughter Ella Elizabeth, born 1865 at Iroquois, married Albert Brinston on 22 January 1884 and they were given a Bible
as a wedding present.  I currently have the Bible and it is filled with family records and newspaper clippings of weddings, births, and deaths. Albert Brinston's father was the namesake of the town of Brinston, but I cannot find the town in my Dictionary of Canadian Place Names.  I'd love to share any of this information.  Ella Elizabeth was my husband's great-grandmother.

SearchingDROPPO, DRAPPO, LARVIS

Query:
My great grandfather was William Francis Droppo (Born May 10, 1865, Died April 4, 1959, Married Margaret Elenor Fawcett on November 11, 1890).  William's parents were Francis Drappo (born about 1821)and Elizabeth Ann Larvis (born about 1826).  I have seen "Larvis" spelled a couple of different ways on certificates but I think "Larvis" was her last name.  Does anyone know who Elizabeth's parents were and any information?
I have Francis Droppo's parents listed as John Francis Drappo (born about 1775, Died April 23, 1857) and Catherine Teauseau (born about 1801, died March 14, 1858).  They were married about 1817. I am not certain of the spelling of Catherine's last name -  have seen Tousaw also.  I don't have confirmation for most of the dates.  Any information would be appreciated!

SearchingBELL, LOCK, ISABELLE, GOULD

Query:
I am looking for any information regarding James BELL, born May 20, 185, Belfast, Ireland, emigrated around 1826 with mother and 2 brothers.  Mother died on board ship, James and 1 brother were "adopted" by another couple and moved into Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.  James married Louisa LOCK (Loche?) in approximately 1847 and moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Cyrus ISABELLE was born March 13, 1848, Matilda Township, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.  Cyrus married Elizabeth GOULD, born July 20, 1853 in Wilna, Jefferson County, New York, on May 1, 1870 in New
York.  They moved to Oconto County, Wisconsin in 1870 right after their marriage.  Cyrus ISABELLE's parents were Louis ISABELLE, born France, and Betsy THORP or BUCK, born England.
