2012-2017 Doing casual teaching in Sydney & Traveling

2010-2011 Spending time in New Zealand, a break from teaching, studying & writing.

2004-09  Teaching in Sydney at Woollahra Public School.

2000-03  Teaching in Sydney at Tower Street Public School.

1998-1999 Travelling overseas & teaching in London.

1993-1997 Primary school teacher. Casual with blocks at Bourke Street, Darlinghurst, Crown Street, Matraville, Redfern, Double Bay, Erskineville Public Schools.

 

1992 Completed Diploma of Education (Primary Level) at University of Sydney with special focuses on teaching English as a second language and Personal Development Stategies for Students.

 

1990-1991  Freelance- Galt Personnel. Galt Personnel employed me to provide support to various companies including Telecom, Merchant Banks, Insurance companies, Tourism Organisations, Superannuation organisations. Duties included Customer liaison, data processing, copying and updating disks, filing information and organising slides.

1989 Youth worker- Family & Community Services, Brougham Receiving Centre, Woollahra. As a Youth worker I was responsible for the supervision and support of a number of children with disturbed backgrounds.

1988 Administrative Assistant- Refugee Advice & Casework Service. Duties included helping refugees fill out and lodge applications, answering phone calls, collecting and posting mail, sending faxes to other refugee organisations, politicians and the media, locating  information from the media, and dealing with various social and economic needs of refugees.

1986-1987  Social Educator- St Vincent de Paul. As social educator, I worked with adults who were intellectually,physically and emotionally disabled and ensured the safety of people moving toward increasingly independent living.

 

1981-1984  Student- University of Canterbury. BA majoring in Political Science an Sociology . Also completed papers in History, Psychology and Geography.
1983-84    Elected to University Students' Association Executive as Public Affairs Officer

1983 Interview & research collation and plotting of local river usage -North Canterbury Catchment Authority.
1982 Key Organiser of Urban Alternatives festival;
1981 Interview and research collation of holiday visitors to Nelson area.
1980 Postal sorter and deliverer
1979 Student assistant to holiday program for children.

High School Academic Achievements:
1978 Passed 5th form School certificate exams equivalent to year 10), in bookkeeping, economic studies, geography,English and maths.
1979 6th form level (equivalent to year 11) accredited in Geography, English, Economic studies, Biology and Bookkeeping.
1980 Passed 7th form level(equivalent to year 12), in History, Geography, English, Economic Studies  & Biology.


Other High School Achievements:

1979-1980 Leader of school environment group "Ecology Action" organised film evenings and pioneered recycling of paper, aluminium and glass in local community .
News Editor and reporter for school newspaper.
School Librarian.
1980 Member of school council.

 

Studies

Computers- have considerable experience in use and teaching of computers. Have  experience in Word,  Publisher,  Powerpoint and the internet including creating web pages. Have taught classes to use these programs.
Have participated in Education related courses at Schools including Computer Applications, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Have also learnt Counselling Skills in New Zealand and Australia, leading support groups, classes and workshops. Have participated in a number of personal growth groups.

Hobbies & Interests:
I enjoy movies, reading, music, travel, running, swimming & weight training.
