Hi there! Below are some url addresses to sites that I have also created plus
a few sites on topics that interest or inspire me.
I was born in 1962 so in Chinese Astrology, I am a tiger. I was born under the
sign of Sagittarius in a city in New Zealand called Nelson and moved to Christchurch in 1981 to attend University. There I
completed a BA majoring in Sociology and Political Science. I was also involved in Student Politics. I write more about that
in my politics page. I moved to Australia in 1985 and did a variety of jobs until 1992 when I trained to be a primary school
teacher.
I have always enjoyed experiencing many different things. I enjoy variety in
many forms whether it be who I spend time with, where I live(on average since 1981 I have moved once every 9 months), food,
entertainment, whatever...
You can find out more about my interests by visiting some of my sites listed
below.
As a child, I had pet bantams(buff Pekins) which are lovely little birds, gold
in colour with feathers on their feet so that they waddle around a bit. When I was a teenager I took on a keeshond dog who
belonged to a family who couldn't care for him and had left him wandering the streets eating out of garbage cans.
As a child I was also an avid collector of coins and stamps which assisted me
in learning lots about the world and countries which I still enjoy learning about. I collected everything from shells and
rocks to birds nests and posters.
I was heavily into Star Wars and other Science Fiction as a teenager. I loved
"Logans Run" and "Planet of the Apes" both the movies and the tv series. I have always enjoyed television and movies. Some
of my favourite tv shows have included "ALF", "Charlies Angels", "Bewitched", "Mr Ed". More recently I have enjoyed "Seinfeld",
"Friends", "The X-Files", "The Outer Limits", "ER", "Melrose Place", "Absolutely Fabulous". Disaster movies are brilliant.
I created a page in honour of "The Poseidon Adventure" in 1997 to mark 25 years since it's release.
My interest in seeing an end to poverty, war, environmental problems and other
issues combined with my enthusiasm for entertainment led me to create "Progressive Global Communications" which you can find
an address below for.
I am very keen to see a peaceful resolution in the middle East. The problems
in the world with terrorism cannot be solved through increased security alone. Only when the West gets serious about ending
all poverty, exploitation and oppression in the poorer parts of the world instead of letting the rich get richer, will we
see a minimisation of these extremist groups. When the west demands that Israel withdraw from the occupied territories we
will really see a favourable move to world peace.
I have long been interested in the coup which occurred in Chile in 1973 and
the information pointing to involvement by the US military. Although the events are over, I believe we can learn a lot about
the lengths that some groups like the CIA take in meddling in other countries affairs to ensure that they can continue to
pay low wages to people in other countries and as a result ensure higher profits for their companies.
I have been concerned about the environment since I was quite young and I think
there are a lot more things that we can do to advance the situation. See my "Progressive Global Communication" page on this.
Having to read so much at University put me off reading for some time, but in
the last few years I have become an keen reader at times. I enjoy learning history but also enjoy fiction. Michael Connelly
is one of my favourite authors but I like many different writers for different reasons.
I was raised as as an Anglican Christian(Church of England). I was babtised
as a baby and confirmed when I was a teenager, but lost interest soon after. I am open to many different ideas and religions,
but not one grabs my adherence. I am a bit of a scientific rationalist, but I see how my own life is heightened by being open
to a spiritual side. I like all the yin-yang, karma, circle of life ideas of Eastern religions, however I quite like the strength
in Christianity, Judaism & Islam. It often seems that religions create as many problems as they solve.
Because of the important role that
companies in Los Angeles play in broadcasting entertainment and ideas to people all over the world, I have long wished to
live in Los Angeles, experience the buzz of being in the world's entertainment capital, and with luck be involved in the process,
contributing ideas and strategies to advance the lives of all people around the world. I lived in Los Angeles in 1998 and
discovered how big the movie industry is and how hard it can be to have an impact on. I know that I have great ideas on how
entertainment has a huge potential to generate better knowledge and a move to better lives for all around the planet, so I
still hope to be involved again, soon. Drop me an email!
