What Does my $40.00 get me

A chance to meet with other paddlers.

The SKABC has a meeting on the second Monday of each month throughout the fall, winter and spring. We meet at 7:30 p.m. at the False Creek Yacht Club which is above Anderson's Restaurant on the North Side of False Creek underneath the Granville Street Bridge in Vancouver B.C. At our meetings we discuss issues that are of concern to the kayaking community.

We also feature a variety of exciting presentations such as;

· slide shows of exotic destinations

· talks by outside professionals, such as the Coast Guard, Physiotherapists or Marine Life experts, educating us on all things kayak-related

· training workshops on such diverse thing's as knot-tying, or tow rope knowledge In the summer, the meetings take on a more casual note. We often meet at the beach, incorporating paddling into the meetings. Skills such as boat packing or tying your boat onto your car etc. are often covered in workshops.

Interesting mail

We produce a very entertaining and informative newsletter 10 times per year. All club members are encouraged to contribute to it in the form of letters to the editor, or by writing articles sharing their experience with the members of the club.

Learning at a low price.

The club offers training to all members. As the instructors are volunteers from the club, the cost of this training is minimal. The philosophy is that if the courses are reasonably priced, more people will get trained. And the more training kayakers have, the safer they are. One of our main goals as an association is to promote safety of the sport of kayaking.

A chance to get out on the open water.

A roster of trips is planned for the whole year This list is published in each newsletter. Each trip is assigned a trip classification designation, so you can tell at a glance whether a trip is within your capabilities The whole idea is to get some training, and then get out there and paddle! Paddle with others so you can learn from them.

Improve your bedtime reading.

SKABC has an extensive library Members are encouraged to make use of this valuable resource. It includes kayak-related books, videos, and magazines There arc even charts and VHF radios available for borrowing!

All this for $40.00 ?? Where do I sign.
