Eusebe Zebulon Michaud
and his Family

Eusebe Zebulon Michaud, the son of Romaine Jean Michaud and Marie Marthe Caron, was born in 1830, in Aroostook County, Maine, probably on the family land near Keegan, on the St. John River. He moved with his father to their new property in Eagle Lake, and married a couple of times: to Julie Martin, possibly Flavie Martin, and even a third time as well. Julie's parents were Francois Martin and Marie Luce Cyr.

While there are some grey areas in the records, the 1860 census reports that "Zeb" Eusebe, age 26, and Julia Martin, age 24, were farmers in Township 17, Range 7, and living adjacent to Vital Michaud and wife Flavie Martin. Eusebe had 2 children on 25 June 1860, Elias, age 2, and "Febine" (Spelling), 9 months old. The Census also indicates that neither he nor Julia could read or write. There was also a Christie Martin, age 7, and a Joseph Vaillancourt, age 35, "laborer", living on the farm. Christie was a daughter of Julia's from her first marriage, to Laurent Martin.

In the 1870 census of Wallagrass, Eusebe ("Zeb") is now listed as "age 42" and living in household 21 with Julia, age 36, children: Christy, age 15; Edward, age 11; Heloise (not sure of name), age 9 and Thomas, age 2. All the family are said to have been born in Maine. Their farm was worth about $300. Nearby are his brothers Albert, Magloire and Paul.
