Morning Dewdrops
L. Kathleen Mathis
What did I do?
How did I manage to capture your attention,
much less your affection?
Was it some unknown measure of goodness
I made manifest in my life,
that the mysteries chose to bless me
so abundantly
in you?
Your words fall like dewdrops
glistening in the morning,
a radiant crown of glory and life
falling upon me
and refreshing the desert
of my heart.
Your smile illuminates me
with the warm golden glow
of the morning sun.
How you breath on me
such a touch of wonder,
newness of life,
rousing me from a night
of twilight slumber.
And I wonder;
what did I do
to deserve such riches
from you?
