The U.S. Copyright Office refused to suspend the requirement that over-the-air radio stations pay royalties to labels and artists for the songs they broadcast over the Internet. There's no telling what the news will be come December, but National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" is planning to inject some levity in any case. The producers have commissioned screenwriter-playwright Peter Ackerman to write a five-part comedy that will be broadcast during the program the week of Dec. 16. The production is called "I'd Rather Eat Pants" and deals with two old folks heading west to find fame. It will be produced for NPR by L.A. 10/2.9/02 - Headphones. My new Koss phones lasted 28 days before the left-ear wire opened at the 'Y.' Wal*Mart gave me a refund, but I bought another pair, and I have maybe about two or three weeks on the new pair. I also got another pair of phones in the old 'closed' style for about $7 with free ear buds but no time for reports now. This last item (two sets of phones) was a special at a local Spanish-language electronics store.

10/2.8/02 - Talk station KPLS 830 AM changes their program schedule, or so I've heard. Their program schedule at www.kpls.com/ was replaced with nothing, an informationless site, so who knows? Can you believe this station has been on the air for maybe/almost two years, still has no listeners, and can't get up a website with a schedule. This must be one of the dumbest moves by any local station.
